If you are being paid to be a First Aid-certified staff (e.g. Lifeguard, Safety supervisor, First Aider, etc.) then you are obliged to do first aid.
If you are a regular person on the street, then you are not required to do first aid. Frankly speaking, most people would get involved if help was required – even if that means simply calling 911. You’ve got the training, you should put it to use!
IF you start treatment (CPR or otherwise) you are required to:
1) Continue until it is either unsafe to you to continue, or until you are too exhausted to continue
2) Stay at the scene of the incident until professionals arrive (EMS and police will want to interview you and get some information on your treatment and on the situation)
3) Do the best you can using the knowledge you have — do what you were taught
As someone else mentioned, the Good Samaritan Act (in a majority of states, provinces, and territories) is a good thing to review. This act will cover any liabilities if you choose to do first aid, provided you follow the requirements stated above.

I’ve been soul searching for a few weeks now and trying to find out what I really want to do in life. After looking around and asking questions on here I seem to come back to the same thing…. private protective services. I’m wondering if I can even have a chance at this path? I don’t have special forces training, but here’s what I do have:
I was deployed in OIF II
Numerous convoy operations in Iraq and Kuwait
I’ve been in corrections for 2 years now
I’m a member of the Strike Force Team at my prison
Hold valid certifications in firearms(AR-15, .38 revolver, 12 gauge shotgun) and CPR/AED
The only thing I question is the fact that I was discharged general under honorable conditions. This is in the appeal process b/c my unit was disbanning and hurried the process. They ddn’t conduct the separation in accordance with AR 135-178 sec. 2-4. I say this because there was no actual rehabilitation tried to correct my very minor patterns of misconduct, ironing uniforms, late 3 times, etc. I pretty much rehabilitated myself, but was still separated even though there was an obvious positive change in my appearance, moral, and overall attitude.
Is there any company that would consider me for employment with my qualifications? I was looking at Triple Canopy, DynCorp, and CSA Ltd. Does anyone know of a company that has a job such as a correctional officer that is operating abroad now?
Any info would be appreciated. Bless

Using the heel of your palm allows for the greatest surface area to compress the heart rapidly at the rate of 100 compressions a minute. The elbow is much smaller and more jagged and could easily puncture internal organs and the ribs. You could also puncture the Xiphoid process, a small notch below the sternum. Studies indicate that upon breaking, the Xiphoid could lacerate internal organs including the heart.
Always perform the way that certified instructors and healthcare professionals are taught. By doing other than what one is taught, you could get sued, lose your patient, or even harm yourself.

I am willing to pay up to 2000 dollars for any opportunity to volunteer in africa with wildlife. hopefully with no prior education.
or
work with kids in africa and i am still willing to pay for all my flights and food and stuff.
i’m not stupid and i’m not trying to get a free vacation where i can help out. i am a senior in highschool and i’ve heard of a couple other students being able to do this and i’m really interested. i am also cpr/aed and first aid certified so i’m not just randomly jumping into something for it to look good on a resume or transcript. i love working with animals and kids and it would really be a great experience. thanks for all the feedback!

My cutie pie kitty got in our basket this morning, this where I found when I heard her choking, and gasping. I then saw her inhale something. I ran across the room to her. She rapidly ate an object, that she knows not to eat! Like a little kido.
Immediately I patted on the back. That seemed not to be working, and I saw her eyes tearing & dilating so I picked up like you do an infant. Had her chest on my arm, cradled her, tilted her at angle, patting gently on her back w/opposite arm. Managing to knock loose whatever it was she swallowed. I saw it sticking out of her mouth. I pulled it out gently, using a fishhook “finger method”. I eased her over to her other side, and I listened to her heart beat, watched her respirations, and checked her pulse. I’m a nurse. I’m trained in CPR, AED, Basic Life Support, etc. I’m not trained in PETSAVER CPR. Although, thinking I should be now! My baby kittycat swallowed a long, skinny mailing rubberband. She’s doing well now!
