I must respectfully disagree with the above.
Although it is important to eventually figure out whether or not a patient has additional injuries, when CPR is indicated, nothing else matters.
Your priorities as a first responder to an incident in the field are:
1) Insure rescuer safety. (Don’t get hurt. Don’t be a second victim.)
2) Assess for arousability. (“Are you ok!?”)
3) Establish an open airway (jaw thrust and assess for oral foriegn material). Is the person breathing spontaneously?
If not, begin rescue ventilations. (Preferably by bag valve mask, but if none is available, then by mouth to mouth with whatever barrier precautions are available.) Give 2 quick breaths and assess.
3) Check for a pulse. If signs of major injury are present, the pulse may be very rapid and very shallow. Check at major arteries.
If no pulse is present (the patient is clinically dead), then CPR is indicated as long as the responder is prepared to undertake this, and there are no obvious reasons that it would be futile.
Things are not much different in a healthcare setting, other than one can assume rescuer safety and the presence of appropriate supplies.
Your priorities are:
(Rescuer safety)
Evaluate/establish airway
Initiate ventilation
Check for pulse
If pulseless, begin CPR.
Airway, Breathing and Circulation (the ABC’s) take priority, in THAT ORDER, above all else.
Only people who have blood flow will bleed. Once flow is established, then control of major life threatening bleeding becomes part of “C”.

(Here are some training classes below, should I take both? if yes, what others should I take too)
ARC Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross lifeguard training provides the skills, knowledge and professional development necessary to keep aquatic facility users safe in and around the water. Those completing the course will be certified. CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid/AED and administering emergency oxygen are included in the training.
YMCA Lifeguard Training
This course is designed to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard. The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard by anticipating and preventing problems before they occur and by taking action to help those in danger when necessary. It will include: accident prevention, guarding techniques, pool management and even more safety skill

First of all i want to say that i don’t WANT a discharge at this moment but theres like a 95% chance im going to get one.
The reason is that im 18, im adopted my dad is 72 years old and iv been in the DEP for 5 weeks and my dads health has been suddenly gone down and im scared for him and my family really needs me to be there.
In case your wondering my dad has a defibrillator and it went off and he almost died and my moms taking it hard and i really need to be there,
Sorry for the excess info, but the main question is, from what iv seen when you get discharged they give you a reenlistment number
1-4 one being good and 4 being very bad,
If i got discharged and told them these reasons, would i be able to reenlist? how hard would it be? and if there is one, how long would the reenlistment period be? and what number rating would i get if they do that?
I just want to be a Marine, but family comes first, please help me its greatly appreciated

I’m building, well actually adding on to, my medical kit. Currently it is a fishing tackle box (haha pretty organized though) but im goign to buy a medical bag preferrably a backpack (any suggestions for the backback?, ). i’ve been using galls.com and remotemedical.com searching for things. i plan on becoming a paramedic, and maybe a citizen first responder, I know nothing now but I’m goign to start training soon. i wan’t to be ready to save lives or just help small injuries. I want something to keep in my car (so im not sure what would go bad in the heat, maybe pills?) that way it is always a few steps away from where I am. I plan on goign all out eventually slowly adding things, I want to get an AED eventually, but for now I want things liek hemostat, bloodstoppers, I have the basic first aid items in mind but feel free to add simple things liek triple antibiotic ointment in your list. thats what I want a hug elist of things to include in my bag. BVM, hemostat, anything you cna think of. also I want it in a backpack because I want to join a SAR team and be able to have all of my stuff with me. I wan’t a pack that can carry thing sliek IV access kits 9even though Im not certified to use thes eI want a bag that has enough room for it fo rwhen I do get certified. Include things that I would need training for as well…I wont buy or use them until I am trained to do so but Id liek to have them in mind.
