So I have my Medical Response Technician test on Tuesday and I was just going through notes I typed up the other day and watching a few videos on CPR on youtube, and I noticed that in the videos they didn’t check for a pulse and I also forgot to put it down in my notes. I know for a fact that we have to check for a pulse, but of course, now I don’t remember exactly when to check.
Here is what I have for the steps:
-BSI, scene safety!
-Talk to victim; Are you okay? Can you hear me?
-Ask partner/bystander to call 911
-Head-tilt, chin-lift; listen to air coming out of the nose, feel for air coming
out of the mouth, watch for rise in chest
-Give 2 breaths with BVM
-Start compressions, ratio of 30 compressions to every 2 breaths,
-Continue doing compressions & using BVM until medical personnel arrive with AED
If I remember correctly, you would check for a pulse after giving the initial 2 breaths with the BVM, but before starting compressions.
Would that be right?

A $4 billion annual “fee” that Mr. Baucus has proposed on manufacturers of “medical devices” is still a $4 billion fee.
Many Medical Devices Taxed Under Baucus Health Billhttp://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/…
A provision in the Democrats’ proposal to partially fund health care reform would tax medical devices
* Pacemakers
* Hip joint replacements
* Gastrointestinal tubes
* Artificial hearts
* Hearing aids
* Porcelain teeth
* Heart defibrillators
* Prosthetic heart valve rotators
* Powered wheelchairs
* Ventilators
Will all be taxed.
