What Would Be The Cost Of Living Including Rent & Schooling Of 2 Kids In A Cosmopolitan Area In Dubai?
I have a job offer with 25000 AED per month in Dubai. We are a family of 4 members. I have 2 kids, one in 10th Std & other in 7th std schooling. I am interested in renting a 3 bedroom appartment in a decent area in Dubai where I find people from different nationalities as my neighbours. I would also need either an international school or a Delhi Public School curriculum for my kids. My purpose of working in Dubai is purely from saving perspective. What do you think would me my savings after meeting expenses on rent, school, car, fuel, medical & household? Please respond, I shall br grateful.

its a few years since i left there but i checked the Better Homes website which is a letting agent there the cheapest 3 bed they had was 170,000 Dh a year or 14,000 odd a month, there may well be places cheaper than that, when i was there u could get a reasonable place for dh 6000 a month but maybe prices have gone up. with regards to a school u could try Our Own English High School they are Delhi syllabus and i checked their website fees are 700 a month each child approx with one off payment of 400 each admision charges there will also be charges for uniform and books, and 150 each child per month bus fees if u need it. u will not be able to drive in Dubai unless u have a uk passport and driving licence, till u have taken a test this is a lengthy and frustrating process even for people with many years driving experience. my kids were in british curricululm so i dont know too much about other syllabuses however OOEHS is well regarded. taxis are relatively cheap but there is little else in way of public transport, u would be able to buy a car after secuing yr residence visa but as mentioned above u would have to pass a test there first and this would take several months, medical bills not sure i think they may have an insurance scheme now but wheni was there u had a health card issued by the government hospitals it cost a few hundred Dh a year that entitled u to use government hosptials at a small fee otherwise u can use private doctors and hospitals, they range in price considerably but u can find reasonable ones, we had a brilliant one in the backstreets of ajman who was bangladeshi and charged a very small amount, he was someone my husband knew and he had been to england and spoke good english he was a good doctor but wanted to serve the poorer memebers o f his community so was very reasonable. food is generally cheap there for the basics, rice, pasta, fruit veg etc but imported western brands are more expensive than in the uk, there are a lot of restaurants ranging from 5* hotels that are expensive to little indianrestaurants who provide excellent fare for about Dh 10. hope this helps u a little.
