Defibrillator Solutions

I Was Just Wondering If You Apply The Same Cpr Methods To Toddlers As You Do To Infants?

I saw my old booklet on cpr for infants as we had to take classes and watch videos before taking our son home from the hospital. Well, now he’s 2yrs.3mos. old and I was wondering if the same infant method is to be applied to toddlers as well. Is there a method for toddlers to be done. Thank God I haven’t had to put it to use but, I’d like to know in case it did happen. Thanks in Advance. first time older parent.

The techniques for CPR are divided into Infant (0-1 year old), Child (1-12 years old, or 8 in some programs), and Adult after that.
The techniques for a child are VERY different than those for an infant. Checking for consciousness, head tilt, depth of compression, hand placement, pulse location, seal for mouth-to-mouht, etc. change as we move from the infant to the child.
Besides, most CPR cards are only good for a year in the US- time to retake it!
