CALL WHOM EVER WANTS THE CERTIFICATE,AND ASK THEM! BUT THE RED CROSS SHOULD OFFER THE COURSE, WE GET OURS THRU WORK EVERY YEAR, NO CARD JUST KNOWLEDGE.

a: you can take it at a lot of places, some individuals are certified to teach it.
b: depends on the certification basic and I guess advanced (never taken that one)
c: 2-4 years depending on who taught it
d. dont know what that stands for and I am too lazy to look it up lol.

Go to your local Red Cross. They teach classes on it. Usually you can get it done in one Saturday. BLS is basic life support….cpr , Heimlich maneuver etc etc BCLS is basic cardiac life support… They teach you how to use an automatic electronic defibrillator and all that good stuff !! Have fun = )

If you have a local volunteer Fire/EMS station, some offer free classes in exchange for a few hours of volunteering. Red Cross does offer the class. Your card is a 2 year card now. Along with your CPR you will also be required to be certified on a AED since you’ll be working in a public place. Your certification on that is every 3 months. In our area we ALS and BLS. ALS is when we have to call in a medic and they and hospital will deside the course of action. BLS is not as serious, but still could become life threating. Hope this helps. If you’re going to go into the health care field, you more than likely need certification through the American Heart Association. I would take it through an independent company or a fire department, which would both be authorized through the AHA as a training center. The community colleges will rip you off. A CPR card through the AHA is valid for 2 years. Through the Red Cross, it’s only valid for 1 year. There is a difference in the methods the two teach.
As far as I know, there is no difference between BCLS and BLS.

The American Red Cross does not offer a course titled “Basic Life Support” that is the name of an American Heart Association class. Whether taken through the AHA or as an AHA class taught at a college, the certification will be the same – it will probably be cheaper if you can find the class in the community, outside of the college. BCLS is Basic Cardiac Life Support, BLS is Basic Life Support. BCLS is more detailed, it’s a higher level of training; above that is ACLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Contact your local AHA to sign up for the class or to find an instructor in the community.
AHA certifications are typically valid for 2 years.
The Red Cross offers Lay Responder First Aid, CPR and AED valid for 1 year and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider valid for 2 years. You can check with the school you attend to see if they have a preference, but if they specifically said BLS or BCLS, then they are requiring AHA classes, not Red Cross.
