not in most places. Most ambulances do not let the the general public ride on ambulances. Normally they will only let students and other people in the first responder community ride out.

Very few places accept online certification- it is not considered valid since there is no proctored exam and no hands-on component. Even the ‘big name’ on-line programs like http://www.nationalcpr... does not issue a certificate that is fulfills these standards.
On-line programs use a lot of terminology designed to make you think the card is as good and as widely accepted as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association- but that is simply not true.
I hesitate to call on-line certifactions a scam, but I have worked with many people who got one only to find out that the company or school they need it for does not accept it, AND they are out that money- which is often more than the real classes cost! (None of the people I have worked with have recieved a refund either, even when the site has made a guarantee.)

I disagree with #2 (respectfully).
There are a couple online course that are nationally accredited.
I used http://www.nationalcprcertification.com and it was quick and easy.
There are other companies that may be good.
Just make sue they are nationally certified.
Hope this helps.

Depends on the ambulance squad. In Pennsylvania they will hire ambulance drivers who are cpr certified, but they can not to anything else, it is out of there “scope of practice”. If you want to do the minimum, get your first responder certification, its not as much work as the EMT-Basic cert. and you might be able to help out with the patient. It all depends on your local department. Oh, and online cpr classes do not count, if something happened, God forbid, and you are sued, you will loose. You need to have hands-on instruction at a certified training center. Any questions feel free to ask! Have fun!

I could see with the blood pathogens one, but with CPR, you need to take a course that is where you meet with the instructor in a classroom setting, and you need to show that you’re able to do CPR. Doing an on-line test will NOT cut it. Sorry.
